WRITING: Humanity’s Treasure

on March 17, 2016

Have you ever thought about how life would be for you if you did not know how to write or read?

I have. For me the invention of writing has been humanity’s greatest treasure. It allows us to learn and progress and become teachers, doctors, astronauts, lawyers, architects, engineers, computer wizards, business administrators, school principals, among other professions.

However, to become a good writer one must read…A LOT! Then, one should practice writing every day , and this brings us to the
“value of the month.”  Anybody can learn how to write, but to write well requires  constancy, discipline and hard work.

I would like to congratulate the students who excelled by writing short stories for the SEP’s competition, and the ones who wrote even in English! I am very proud of you and I urge you to continue writing every day. Remember, constancy is one of the keys to success.

Perhaps all of you, and I do mean ALL of you, can start a  Journal, if you haven’t already done so. This is a perfect way to practice, and to remember facts in case one day you decide to write your autobiography, as I am doing.

And what does it mean to be constant? To be faithful and dependent, to endure, to keep on.

So whatever it is you want to achieve, you must be constant. You must endure the hardship of working for your goals, like: practicing piano  two hours a day or getting up  very early on  Saturdays to practice Basketball, or  studying for three hours a day….and know that if you are constant, one day you will reap the benefits of your sacrifice.

    Hi Miss Lilian:

We missed the videos in the last two blogs even though we loved the pictures.

I was asking my students if they were really honest when their parents sign their reading log, they are saying that they are, so thank’s to this school they are being constant at reading and they will become great writers too.

I have 6 students that do have journals and write on it every day.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

    Love u. Xoxo

Thank you, so very much, Ms. Lilian!

This has been one of the skills I have been working on with each of my students.

As BAI teachers, we have been using an error code for students to reflect upon their writing. They turn in a certain written task for any subject, teachers then use the error code to give them the feedback they need, and eventually, the children find out what their mistakes have been with the help of the error code to reflect upon and correct themselves.

It’s been about 7 months where we have been constant with the use of this tool and we have seen how much their writing skills have been improved.

We will continue to read seriously because we understand that to be able to master the process of writing, one must take seriously the time for reading.

Happy Spring Break, Miss Lilian and I hope we all take time to read and enjoy future tasks, and good luck to the brave that took the “Magic Wand Challenge”!

It’s 6A AND 6B today. Our hard work WRITING scripts and acting meant that half the sixth weren’t very constant at coming to school.

Good news, one team in 6A did Harry Potter as their book trailer!

Carol wishes you a good Spring Break. And Monica thanks you for remembering her 🙂 and reminding her to be constant.
