Sir John Lubbock, was an English  banker, politician, philanthropist, scientist and polymath.

He made significant contributions in archeology and ethnography, as well as biology. He said:

“Earth and sky, woods and fields, lakes and rivers, the mountain and the sea, are excellent schoolmasters, and teach some of us more than we can ever learn from books.”

Nature is comprised of all that he mentioned. I have been able to absorb and enjoy what nature has to offer now that I live in  Denver, for the city has 205  parks, almost all streets are adorned by gigantic trees that touch each other and form a green tunnel and during  Spring and Summer there is an explosion of flowers such as I have never seen before.

However, all of us are contributing, wether we are aware or not, to the demise of Nature, of our planet.

Man cannot live without nature, it is that simple. Mother Earth is very wise and provides us with everything that we need to live. However, man can be a very destructive creature. Forests are being cut in order to make room for planting food for cattle; man is destroying its environment and life as we know it will not continue unless we take action! Oceans are filled with trash!

This is a photo of a seagull that died because it ate all the trash it found in the ocean, that men threw.

    Dear Miss Lilian :

Thank you for sharing the videos and images with my students. They were very sad to see what ” We” humans have done to nature, but they were very optimistic about trying to help care for nature.

I told them , since they where not understanding all that Xiuhtezcatl was talking about, that young men like him are our future. That his mentality is exactly what our world needs. My students agreed.

Thank you for sharing this with us. We love you and hope to see you soon.

In 6B we are all about renewable resources. We were very excited to hear that last month Germany went a whole day, and Portugal went four days, on renewable energy alone. This is the way forward and we look to a future where it won’t be one day, but all days!

Mexico has some of the world’s largest geothermal power stations. Now we just need to harness the power of the sun and we too will have a power grid based on renewable resources.

Yes, isn’t it exciting g when one hears of the wonderful things that can be done and ARE being done in many parts of our world? I look forward to an rvorinmr tslky safe and clean world. Thank you, Mr. Kay and thank the 6th graders for being mindful.

    Hi Miss Lilian:

We are able to stand by this boy by taking responsibility and accepting that even though we are little we can do our part, like picking up trash, not wasting water, turning out the lights when we are not using them, planting trees, not throwing trash in the ocean, recycling, reusing, reducing, not wasting pages in our notebooks, not wasting the kleenex, not contaminating, tell our parents to take care of the cars so they don’t contaminate, if we live near we can walk or use a bicycle instead of the car.

It was very inspiring to hear this boy talking about fossil fuels and despite of his age he is so mature and doing his part by making us believe that we our part of this world and we can make it better.

Love u !! Thank you for sharing !!
