Are You Healthy?

on March 27, 2017

To be healthy one must  take care not only of our bodies, but of our mind and spirit.

Athletes who exercise intensely because they play a certain sport like football, tennis, martial arts, running, basketball, etc., take care of their bodies by trying to eat correctly and have good habits and discipline. When your body feels good, your mood is good, and you are happy!

These are certain rules you should follow if you want to be a healthy kid:

  1. Sleep well. These are the guidelines to follow if you want to sleep well and rest properly.  Your body and mind will thank you, and I bet your parents will too.
Toddlers 1-2 years 11 to 14 hours sleep needed
Preschoolers 3-5 years 10 to 13 hours
School-aged Children 6-13 years 9 to 11 hours

2. Drink plenty of water.

Children 4-8 years old need at least 5 8z. cups of water a day. Children 8-13 need 8 8z. cups of water a day. But, if the weather is extremely high and you are moving or exercising more than usual you may have more.

3. The pyramid shows what you should eat everyday and the amounts:

If you drink milk try to drink either Almond Milk, Coconut Milk, Organic Soy Milk or Hemp Milk.

4. Exercise. This means that you should move a lot! Play, run, jump rope, dance,  swim, learn Martial Arts, but the essential thing for you is to move every muscle in your body, so you can grow strong and flexible.

However, to be truly healthy one must always think positive thoughts, be kind  and  say words that will make others happy!

Sleep is very important! Sleep is the brain’s way of making sense of the world we live in and all the information that we receive during the day. Personally, I miss the days in school when the teachers would have the students take “quiet time”, rest their heads on the desk, and sleep! (And that was just the teachers! Did you see what I did there?)
