We have come to the end of our first semester of school, and undoubtedly you have grown a few centimeters, to say the least. But, how have you grown in values? How have you grown in knowledge? How have you grown as human beings?

This is a question you must ask yourselves and ponder seriously. Because knowledge without spiritual and emotional growth is of no use.

Have you practiced the values you have learned?

How about this month’s value: generosity. How generous have you been? Generosity not only means giving something material , such as a gift, a toy, clothing, books. It means giving love, respect, trust, kindness. So now, ask yourselves: how generous have I been?

Some people tend to be stingy with their money, but also with their possessions. They do not want to share or share very little, as little as possible. And this is a very sad way to be and live life.

The more one gives, the more one receives. Is this a riddle? No! It’s the truth. The more love you give, the more people will love you. The kinder you are, the kinder people with be toward you. The happier you are, the more happiness you will spread around you, and so on.

So, try to be generous. This Holiday Season, many of you will be receiving gifts and celebrating with your family and friends. Remember those who are less fortunate. Give whatever you can to them: food, blankets, coats, toys, shoes, socks, books…be as generous as you possibly can be and life will be generous toward you. Believe me. If not now, someday.

I keep all of you in my heart and mind, and I send you love, but most of all I hope and pray that you will have learned all that your teachers, parents, and I have tried to teach you.

I hope I become a little tiny voice inside your head and heart that reminds you to be kind, respectful, happy, to always  share, to stand up for what you belief,  help others,  be thankful for all your blessings, and, yes, be generous.

  10. Thank you so much for bringing this up! We were speaking in class about how they don’t really have money to give, being eleven, but they can make things or spend time with people, and that is immensely valuable.
