LOVEMYSTUDENTS

Thank You!

on November 15, 2019

Every day, as I am in bed about to go to sleep, I count my blessings and am thankful for all of them.

I am thankful for my parents, for my mother speaking to me in English while I was growing up, for her teaching me manners, for my father’s extraordinary presence, for the values they taught me with their example,Β  for my beloved husband with whom I founded BAI, for my daughter and her unconditional love, for the food I eat, the bed I sleep on, the clothes I wear, my dogs: Bunny and Kitty (although very sad Kitty passed away in July), the friends and family I love and who love me back, and for our school and all the people who make up the British American Institute family!

Yes, I am thankful for you, for our teachers, for our maintenance personnel, for our administrative personnel, for your parents, and for all our former students who keep in touch with me! For my former student, Orlando Vera Boeta who was my guide in Berlin, Prague andΒ  Dresden; I am thankful for having taken 20 teachers and personnel on a trip to Loreto, in Baja California Sur; I am thankful for our musical presentations, such as The Lion King, and I am thankful for the cards and letters some of you have written to me.

While I eat I think of all the people who made it possible for me to eat: the farmers who cultivated the vegetables I am eating, the owners of the land where the vegetables are grown, the drivers who take the food to the market, the people who package it, the cashiers who sell it and charge me for it, the persons who put my food into the bags I take to the market….so many people! Hundreds of people make it possible for me to eat! And I thank them in my mind and in my heart. I am thankful for having adopted Lucy!

The minute I wake up I am thankful for another day, for being able to get out of bed with myΒ  two legs and feet (although I have monster toes! Hahahaha), for myΒ  two arms and hands,Β  my two eyes to see where I am stepping, my two ears to hear the birds singing outside my window and the music I love…and I think: how blessed I am to be alive and to be healthy and to have YOU!

I am thankful for my brain, for my mindfulness, because it allows me to be conscious of everything around me and within me. I am thankful for being a vegetarian and for respecting life in all its manifestations.

Can YOU make a list of all the things that you are thankful for?

I am also thankful for Miss Graciela, for she has proven to be not only an excellent teacher of sign language, but a kind and gracious lady.

I am very thankful that Miss Sarah managed to come out alive from the accident she suffered. It is a miracle that nothing more serious happened to her!

I am thankful that our school did not burn, like so many other buildings and homes all around us. I am very thankful!

I am thankful that now I live near the ocean and in just 10 minutes I can enjoy just looking at it!

So, again, THANK YOU children, for the love and joy you bring into my life. YOU are the sunshine of the days I spend and have spent at British American Institute. YOU are the reason I am writing this blogΒ  hoping to leave a footprint in your hearts, minds and souls.

THANK YOU!

Dear Miss Lilian, Loved the blog today, I totally agree with being grateful, and how important it is to feel it every day, every moment of our lives. I think we sometimes take things for granted and we don[t stop to think at the background of things, thank you for sharing and for reminding us to be grateful and appreciate life and everything that it involves.

Hello Miss Lillian, here we are, so close to concluding another year in our lives.

The 4th Graders have learned to be grateful for every single thing they have, it has been a wonderful experience hearing how much they have grown in that respect. I am grateful for that.

Hope to see you soon. The children send their love.

    Hi Miss Lilian,
We were very touched for your thoughts and feelings. You really made us think and reflect in all the people and things we must be grateful for and, sometimes we don’t take a minute to think about! We loved the pics! The students were really exciting to see themselves in a picture. I hope I can be part of those pictures one day!

We are grateful for you Miss Lilian, thank you for visiting us today.

    Lots of love,
